Community CLASSES

What would you like to learn?

The community classes are active, fun, and filled with cuties! Check out the class options.

  • This class aims to develop or deepen your understanding of how a sewing machine works, how to set it up, and the basic sewing techniques to get you started. You will be practicing your beginner skills by making one-of-a-kind rope bowls! All skill levels are welcome, however, this class is best suited for total beginners and returners.

You'll leave with the knowledge and resources to keep sewing! Don’t worry, we’ll provide the machines, tools, and supplies for class too.

  • Know how to thread a machine and ready for the next step? Hemming is a skill you will use in almost every sewing project! A hem is when you take the edge of your fabric, fold it over and sew it down…but it’s not really that simple to do. Please bring a few items 2-5 that need to be hemmed (ex: shirts, pants, curtains…); hemming helps us finish the edges of our items, customize the length, and add your own flavor. Community members are encouraged to bring their own working sewing machines, if ya got 'em! We’ll have machines available for those that do not have their own (yet).

Let’s try to avoid very thin or very stretchy materials. We will discuss methods and tools to help you level up into these fabrics, but they are not a very reasonable place to start.

  • This class is for folks that want to learn how to sew using patterns! In this intermediate class, we will discuss fundamental information about reading, finding, and understanding patterns as well as using one (beginning to end) in class to create your one of a kind (1x1) reversible bucket hat for summer and fall! Jackie will walk you through the process and support you along the way.

Machine threading and some experience on a sewing machine are prerequisites for this class. Community members are encouraged to bring their own *working* sewing machines, if ya got 'em! We’ll have machines available for those that do not have their own (yet). You may bring your own fabric (jeans/pants are good), however, if it doesn’t fit the project, Jackie will redirect you to the fabric options available!

We will be using a pattern created & designed by Glory Allan. He creates content and designs for beginners and intermediate sewists! Check him out!
